Weather data and forecasts are fundamental to many application and practical uses: agricultural production, forest meteorology, air pollution, civil protection, transportation, energy production, water resources management, environmental health and many others.
All these fields, together with the development of local climate-change mitigation and adaptation strategies, needs reliable meteorological observations and forecasts at a high temporal frequency and small horizontal spacing.
The appled meteorology section of CRC constantly uses surface weather data, space-based measurements (meteorological satellites) and weather forecasts to support and develop new applications in the aforementioned fields.
